Higher Cheristow Farm Campsite - terms
Higher Cheristow Farm Campsite is owned and run by Shelly Heard, Higher Cheristow Farm, Hartland, EX39 6DA
Wild Red Caravan Club Certificated site
This is an adult-only Certificated Site, certified by the Wild Red Caravan Club, which is open to members and non members. Membership is free, and can be done at time of booking or onsite on arrival.
Working organic farm
This is a working farm with animals, tractors and machinery. For Health and Safety please do not go in out of bounds areas.
Departure and arrival times
Arrivals are between 3pm and 8pm. Please come to reception on arrival. Summer months are harvest months, and I am often busy until dark. If there is no one about, then I must be working on the farm. Just find a pitch and I will see you when I can.
Departures are between 8am and 10.30am.
Early arrivals
Arrivals are between 3pm and 8pm. This is to allow time to cut the grass and clean the campsite, barbeques, fire pits and toilet facilities between bookings.
Please do not abuse my hospitality and arrive mid morning. If you arrive before 3pm there will be an additional charge of £10 per pitch.
Deposit
A non refundable deposit of £50 is needed to secure a booking. When a reservation is made you will be sent an email with bank details so that you can do a bank transfer. This is a small certificated site and is too small to warrant credit card facilities.
Balance
The balance is due 3 weeks prior to arrival. If the balance is not received then the reservation will be cancelled.
Cancellations
Please make sure your insurance policy covers cancellations. Your deposit will only be refundable if the Government Covid lockdown restrictions prohibit you from coming. Alternatively you may at my discretion transfer your booking to another date.
If you or one of your party catch Covid19 and need to self isolate, then your deposit is not refundable.
Facilities
Please ensure that you clean up after yourself. If the facilities are dirty, it is because one of your fellow guests have left it like this. The toilet block is cleaned twice a day.
Please make sure all taps are turned off to save on water and electricity.
Electric Hook Up
Electric is available on all pitches. Electricity is charged at £5.00 per night to pay for the maintenance and annual inspection by the qualified electrician, as well as the electricity used on site.
The charging of electric vehicles is not permitted. There is an EV charger in the village of Hartland operated by the Resurgence Centre.
Pets
Dogs are welcome but limited to 2 per pitch. If too many guests book dogs for a particular night, dogs may be limited. No animals listed on the Dangerous Dog Breeds are permitted on site.
All dogs must be supervised at all times, and not allowed to freely wander around. Dogs are only accepted if kept on a short leash (2 metres maximum) at all times.
Guests must also pick after their pets and place in the bin provided.
There are 5 farm cats. 2 of them are rescue cats and are very timid. Please respect them, and do not allow your dogs to chase them.
Fire precautions
For your safety, we operate a "six metre rule" which means that units (excluding guy ropes) should be 6 metres apart from adjacent units in order to protect against fire.
Please familiarise yourself with the site's fire regulations and fire-fighting equipment and its location as soon as you arrive on site.
It is strongly recommended that all camping units are equipped with suitable fire-fighting equipment.
A bucket of water should be placed outside each camping unit as a basic fire-fighting tool
If you use a gas cylinder, it must be 15kg or less and must be stored within your unit's designated storage compartment.
Barbeques and Campfires
Barbeques and campfires (in a firepit) are allowed providing they are off the ground. Limited Firepits are available on a first come first served basis. Ashes must be placed in a carrier bag when cold, and put in the designated rubbish bin.
Please do not place them too close to your awning or caravan in case of fire. Please make sure you are aware where the fire extinguishers are, and the fire evacuation point.
Smoking and vaping
If you smoke, you must not leave cigarette ends on the ground. We consider the use of e-cigarettes the same as cigarettes and as such, all legal requirements should be adhered to in their use during your stay.
Smoking is not permitted in the toilet block/amenities block.
Bins
Please put your recycling in the relevant bins. Please do not leave your junk, broken barbeques, broken chairs etc. There is a recycling centre in Bideford and another on the way to Bude.
There is also a bin for dog waste and bin for general waste.
Please do not put gas bottles in the bin.
Noise
Please do not disturb other campers with noise. Music/TVs/electronic games etc should not be audible outside your pitch. Barbecues and outdoor meals should be completed and cleared away by 10.30 pm and other campers should not be able to hear you after 11 pm.
